In this verse, the apostle Peter encourages us to pursue two vital aspects of our Christian journey: growth in grace and growth in knowledge.

Grace: Peter calls us to “grow in the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Grace is God’s unmerited favor, His love and forgiveness freely given to us through Jesus. As we grow in grace, we learn to rely less on our own efforts and more on God’s abundant love and mercy. It’s a journey of understanding that we cannot earn God’s love; it’s a gift freely given. The more we grasp the depth of God’s grace, the more we can extend it to others, even when they don’t deserve it.

Knowledge: Peter also encourages us to “grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” This knowledge is not merely intellectual; it’s relational. It’s about deepening our understanding of who Jesus is, what He has done for us, and what it means to follow Him. This knowledge is gained through prayer, reading the Bible, studying His life, and seeking His presence daily. As we grow in knowledge, our faith becomes more rooted, and we become better equipped to share the hope we have in Christ with others.

Ultimately, Peter reminds us that our spiritual growth is not a one-time event but a lifelong journey. It’s a process of becoming more like Christ, day by day. And as we do, we bring glory to Him both now and forever.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your amazing grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Help me to continually grow in these areas, deepening my relationship with you and becoming more like Christ in all I do. May my life bring glory to you, both now and forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
