“The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.” [ Habakkuk 3:19 KJV ]

The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

Habakkuk 3:19 KJV

The book of Habakkuk begins with the prophet questioning God about the suffering and injustice he sees around him. Yet, as the book progresses, we witness a transformation in Habakkuk’s perspective. He moves from doubt to faith, from questioning God’s ways to embracing God’s sovereignty.

In this verse, we find a powerful declaration of trust and faith in the midst of trials. Habakkuk acknowledges that it is the Sovereign Lord who is his strength. This statement is a profound reminder that when we face challenges and difficulties in our lives, we don’t have to rely solely on our own abilities. Instead, we can turn to God, who is our ultimate source of strength.

The imagery of “feet like the feet of a deer” speaks of agility and sure-footedness. In the midst of life’s rugged terrain and obstacles, God enables us to navigate with grace and confidence. Just as a deer can climb steep and treacherous paths with ease, so can we, through God’s strength, overcome the obstacles in our lives.

Furthermore, the phrase “tread on the heights” symbolizes victory and triumph. When we trust in the Lord and allow His strength to sustain us, we can rise above the challenges that threaten to overwhelm us. God doesn’t promise that we won’t face difficulties, but He assures us that we can conquer them with His help.

As we reflect on Habakkuk 3:19, let us remember that our strength doesn’t come from our circumstances, our abilities, or our resources. It comes from the unwavering faith we place in the Sovereign Lord. In times of trouble, let us lean on Him, knowing that He will equip us to overcome, rise above, and experience the heights of victory.

May this verse encourage us to trust in God’s strength, to walk with confidence in His ways, and to find hope in His presence, no matter what challenges we may face.
